College Campus Tours
Ready for a road trip? Invest time visiting campuses throughout Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota and Colorado and exploring college options.
Parent Advisory Meetings
Upward Bound encourages parents to be involved with their children's education. We offer an orientation session for parents of new Upward Bound participants, and parents of continuing UB students receive information on college planning and college life, financial aid options and raising healthy teenagers.
College Prep
Each year, Upward Bound works with local colleges learning about special early admission information and holding counseling sessions for college-bound students.
Special Workshops
Upward Bound holds special workshops during regular class time and occasionally in the evenings learning more about college preparation, financial aid, and life skills.
Summer Residential Program
This 6-week live-in program gives 10th through 12th graders an opportunity to earn high school elective credits while taking customized high school level classes on the WNCC campus. Graduating seniors can earn college units while attending the WNCC Upward Bound Bridge Summer Session. You will live on campus, attend academic and elective classes, take field trips, and work in teams to prepare for college life. A new student trip and returning student trip take place during the summer program. Every four years, eligible Upward Bound students can attend a trip to Washington, D.C.
Field Trips
Explore the world with Upward Bound field trips. Past cultural and educational trips have included museums, theatre productions, science centers, camp outs, professional sporting events, ice skating and skiing, plus many more.
Stipends
Students can earn up to $40 per month during the Academic Year, and $60 during the 6-week Summer Residential Program. Career Work Study stipends are available for qualified students during the Summer months. Program participants qualify to receive fee waivers for college applications and college preparatory exams (e.g. ACT).

TRiO Programs
- Y.E.S.:Student Support Services helps qualified college students persist toward completion of a bachelors degree.
- Veterans Upward Bound: Veterans Upward Bound Program provides educational help to qualified veterans for the improvement of their educational skills before and while they attend a college, university, vocational, or technical school. Assistance is also available for completion of financial aid and scholarship applications.
- Upward Bound: Upward Bound helps qualified high school students improve their academic achievement in high school and prepare for higher education.
- SPiN: Single parents and displaced homemaker students are invited to join the Single Parent Network for monthly networking/educational/support group meetings in the Williams Building. Qualified students may receive nominal financial assistance and free educational materials.
- Supplemental Instruction: Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. S.I. is provided for students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades.
